Kashmir, a mere mention of this word brings in a lot of mental images and feelings. Snow-capped mountains, flower-laden valleys, beautiful lakes, pashmina shawls, delicious local foods are just some of the wonderful experiences that this place holds.
Kashmir has a lot to offer whether it be for couples looking for a romantic getaway, or if you are planning a trip with your family, or people looking for an adventurous escape.
We start off our journey from the summer capital of Kashmir, Srinagar. You can either choose to rest at your hotel or do some sightseeing and shopping at the local markets. You can shop for pashminas, carved wooden boxes, Kashmiri carpets, and the world-famous Kashmiri Saffron. Take in every bit of authentic Kashmiri cuisine when you stop by their famous eateries in the market. Kashmiri food is considered as the pinnacle of culinary excellence with their famous spices and rich colour. Some of the famous Kashmiri foods include Rogan Josh, Butter Tea, Modur Pulao, Yakhni, Aab Gosht amongst other dishes.
You can also do some local sightseeing around Srinagar which includes Mughal Gardens, Cheshma Shahi, Nishat, and Shalimar.
A visit to Gulmarg is also a part of our itinerary, which is one of the most famous hill stations in India. It is located in the Pir-Panjal Range of the Western Himalayas. Gulmarg actually means “Meadow of Flowers” and it lives up to its name. While in Gulmarg, you can take a ride in a “Gondola” which is the local name of the cable car ride. It offers you a panoramic view of the hills and valleys from a vantage point. You’ll also be able to see strawberry fields, apple and cherry orchards in full bloom. After this, you can tee-off at one of the world’s highest golf courses, “Gulmarg Golf Course”.
We’ll be going off to Pahalgam which is also known as the “Valley of Shepherds”. The place has a really serene vibe to it and therefore many movies have been shot at Pahalgam. Enroute we’ll be visiting Saffron fields and Awantipora ruins. While in Pahalgam, you can visit Betaab Valley, Sheshnaag Lake, Tarsar and Marsar Lake which has one of the most famous treks in India. Enjoy a peaceful evening at Pahalgam before returning back to your stay for the night.
Our last location of the trip would be Sonmarg which is rightfully known as the “Meadow of Gold”. One of the most famous attractions of Sonmarg is “Thajiwas Glacier” which has crystal clear waterfalls and green meadows welcoming you. You can visit Nilagrad River which is a highly revered river for the locals. This river also contains many medicinal and healing properties, so make sure not to miss out on this place while you are at Sonmarg.
If you want to experience Kashmir in summer, you can plan your visit from April to August. If you want to see snow-covered valleys and ethereal mountains all around you, the best time to visit would be from November to February.
A place of divine beauty awaits and welcomes you, ready to change your perception of travel and experiences that it holds.
